How awesome is it that my seventh grader is gearing up to study the Civil War War of Northern Agression War Between the States now, as we mark the 150th anniversary of the beginning of that war?
Honestly, I think I might have to see if I can find something online that will guide us (or her) through the war in real-time.
Any suggestions? Because nothing says “great homeschool experience” like a last-minute idea like this!
Quick research finds that:
- The New York Times has a real-time Facebook page set up
- The Washington Post is live-tweeting the War
- There is a real-time blog (with tons of links!) here
- You can watch the re-enactment of the Battle at Fort Sumter here
Unfortunately, I have given up Facebook and Twitter for Lent. Trust me when I say that I’ll be hitting those two sites as soon as Easter is over, which, coincidentally, is also when we actually get to the meat of the War Between the States in her history class.
